/Ronda & Floorcraft

The ronda is the counter-clockwise flow of dancers around the floor, and floorcraft is the skill of navigating within it. In Traditions as Best Practices, Daniel frames the pair as a shared traffic algorithm: a dynamic, self-regulating spatial system that prevents collisions — so dancers can reach moving meditation instead of constantly scanning for danger. In Talking past each other he adds why it works at all: these are individual behaviours that only function because everyone runs the same collective protocol.
